Tom sur pepperplug
A big interview with Tom on Pepperplug.be, a new website & papermag for the Walloon youth. It's here. [thx to Emmanuel Debiève]
They're also running a contest: there are 5 AWTWB DVD's & 3 Magnus CD's to win. Here.
Antwerp on 2 discs
Yup, AWTWB is finally out on DVD! There's a Flemish package and a French one.
The package is a bright red DVD-digipack. The film fills one whole disc (122 minutes), so we get another DVD loaded with 118 (great) bonus minutes:
- TV Canvas' 60-minute long portrait of Tom, with loads of dEUS footage and comments by a.o. Stef, Klaas, Stephan from Soulwax.
- An 18-minute long interview with Tom by Radio 21's Rudy Léonet, you hear the interview while you see a great slideshow
- 25 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage
- 2 trailers (the theatrical one, and an unreleased one)
- tons of deleted scenes (with director's comment)
And EVERYTHING is subtitled into Dutch, English and French!
If you loved the film, there's no reason you wouldn't buy this.
If you didn't like the film, but you're a dEUS fan outside Flanders, then don't miss Tom's portrait, it has great dEUS-worship value.

Server problems
Lately, my web hosting provider has experienced server problems, making hotellounge.com unavailable for several hours. Sorry for the inconvenience (even though I'm not to blame ;-)

Sail away, sail away, sail away!
If you've seen AWTWB, perhaps you remember one of the final scenes, with a small blue 420 sailship sailing past Windman and his girlfriend (this scene)... Well, that 420 is for sale on the AWTWB/dEUS forum, as an "exclusive film-prop auction". More info can be found here.

Down with rock!
This isn't very relevant, but I think it's important. Rock is a big success story in Flanders, that's no secret to you. But in the last few years, a very interesting scene has emerged in Wallonia (= the French-speaking half of Belgium). Bands like Sharko, Ghinzu, Venus, My Little Cheap Dictaphone or Girls In Hawaii play really interesting rock, and are finally getting some recognition outside the "linguistic border".
That's not the consequence of the authorities' support - the whole non-classical music sector has to live with 300,000 euros a year, but local music associations managed to get things moving despite this lack of money. Until now. Daniel Ducarme, from right-wing party Mouvement Reformateur, is (more or less) the Walloon Minister of Culture. He intends to cut the "non-classical music" budget by 50 to 75% - that means very, very, very little.
So, there's now an online petition. Click on the banner if you want to know more, and perhaps help just a tiny little bit.

Twinemen feat. Tom
Yesterday at De Nachten in Antwerpen, Tom joined Twinemen (with ex-Morphine Dana Colley & Billy Conway) for a great version of Morphine's "Eleven O'Clock". Dana asked who would like to come on stage and sing, and pointed at Tom, who was sitting at the right, just two rows from the stage: "You, Sir!" Tom just sang, but he did it in a fantastic way, his voice a perfect match to Twinemen's sound. At the end, Dana said "You can go back to your seat, Sir."
