Acoustic album reviewed
Tom & Guy's album gets 2 stars out of 5 ("satisfying") on Radio 1's website. They say it's nice, but the songs don't work that well without the intimacy of a concert room, and Tom isn't a great guitarist. River, My Funny Valentine and After Midnight are "songs you'd better stay away from, unless you're one of the very best".
Radio 1: "Barman & Van Nueten**
Live
Hoogtepunten:

Le poinconneur des lilas

Serpentine on Axelle Red's new release
Axelle Red, Hasselt's most famous singer, just released a 3-CD box set with a collection of alternative versions of her hits, acoustic recordings, and a series of duets. The third CD includes Serpentine, which she sang with Tom Barman at his acoustic gig at Dranouter Folk Festival 3 years ago. Click here for more information.
Back in 1995, Tom directed the video to her single "Le Monde Tourne Mal". You can watch a 30-second snippet on Axelle Red's official website.

dEUS ex machina pt. 1
The 1st part of Radio 1 "Cucamonga"'s long feature about dEUS was broadcast last Monday. You can listen to its in its entirety at this address: http://www.radio1.be/R1cuca1.ram (RealPlayer required). Though it's all in Dutch, it's definitely worth a listening, because it's filled with rare tracks: Nothing Really Ends (live @ T/W 2002), Big Black TV Cat (from pre-Moondog Jr Beatband), Song For A Jacket, Teachers (from the Crazy & Tonedeaf demo), Suds & Soda (from the No More Soda For Clarence demo) and Great American Nude.
The transcript can be found on Radio 1's website. It's VERY VERY VERY interesting, so I'll translate it. [thx a bunch to Jonas]
Last Sunday, Tom was also in Titaantjes, another Radio 1 program about people with talents. Sergio de Beuckelaer, a sculptor and one of Tom's close friends, talks about him. You can hear the show here till next Sunday - no transcript unfortunately.
And on Sunday at 13:00, Belgian TV Canvas will show a profile of Tom, including footage from his recent acoustic gig in Antwerpen.
