Late Xmas gift

Dutch VPRO have just posted RealAudio footage from a 1995 dEUS gig, in Paradiso Amsterdam on February 23. The stream contains 4 Smashing Pumpkins songs, and the dEUS gig starts at 30:05. The songs are Middlewave, Via, Mute, Let's Get Lost, Great American Nude, Jigsaw You, Morticiachair & Mr Death Won't Get Me. Click here. [thx to ruben]

Browsing their archive I also found a Lowlands 1997 recording (Palace's New Partner), a Villa 65 session from 1994 where they played Suds, Great American Nude, Via & Hotellounge, and Tom solo on De Plantage in October 2000 (playing Joni Mitchell's River).

Lessive & Limonade

la nouvelle campagne, version papierSuds & Soda is being used by a French "don't drink & drive" campaign on TV. Rather surprising when you consider the lyrics. La lessive et la limonade, ça va bien avec la bière, mon frère. You can see it here or download it here.

Oh, and 1,001 apologies. I was away and didn't post anything about Tom's acoustic set on StuBru last Wednesday. My fault. Fortunately, there's always the audio section at Arthur's site if you want to catch up.

Save some money from Santa Claus

Last week, Tom said on Ouï FM that the DVD would be available in January. Berteloot Wouter tells me that at FNAC (one of Belgium's largest bookstores group), they don't expect No More Video to sit on the shelves before January 18.

A little about Magnus + Paris online

Yesterday an interview with Tom was shown on TMF's Bassment program. Interesting bits reported by Tom Bogman : Mr Barman really plans to move to Brussels ; the Magnus album will be finished by January and released in March or April, it will contain samples from MS=MC (Klaas violin bits, or so it seems).

And Tom & Guy's last Tuesday acoustic set at La Scène (Paris) will be broadcast on Ouï FM during the Ketchup & Marmelade program on Sunday, December 23. Tune in on Ouï FM's website to catch the radio webcast. Starts somewhere around midnight.

Tom Loves Portugal

José Polido told the dML that yep, Tom's going down to Portugal once again! On Jan. 26 he will headline the Termometro Unplugged festival together with K's Choice. Their sets will be broadcast live on Radical Sic, a Portuguese cable TV channel.

TMF tomorrow

More info about the upcoming dEUS special on TMF : Tom will be interviewed about the new releases. How surprising :-) Read the previous news item.

dEUS special on TMF

From Tom Bogman : On Belgian TV TMF, TMF-Xtra about dEUS on Wednesday Dec. 12, 21.00 - 23.00 during "The Bassment".

Feedback from Tom

Last week, Tom & Klaas received five copies of the dML's tribute to dEUS, the cover album "Let's Get SUEd". Pedro Pereira, who handed the CD's, actually got feedback from Tom Barman ! Here's the e-mail he received :

Listened with Klaas to the CD and had a heartwarming time. It's great what you did and we're really honored that all these people took the time and did the effort to play our songs. We'll give the CD's to the rest of the band, maybe they'll react too. Please send this to everyone involved and tell them we'll be back. I don't really follow what is going on on the mailing list but I'm really happy people keep watching out for us, even if we take some time off from the band. It means a lot to me.Peace to you, Pedro and everybody involved, and see you soon.

Tom

Congrat's to those of you who made the album ! Ain't life great?

No webcast from Paris

Simon B from Webzine Nameless told me that Tom's acoustic set tonight at La Scène won't be broadcast today, but on Sunday's "Ketchup & Marmelade" show. But tomorrow's set will probably be aired live, so tune in on Oui FM's website tomorrow at 19.00 !

Paris, take 2/Bigger Arithmetics

According to Simon B from Webzine Nameless, Tom will still be in Paris on Wednesday: he's gonna hold a signing session at the "Gibert Joseph" bookstore (26, Boul. Saint-Michel, 75006 Paris) at 17.30. And later that evening (at about 19.00), he'll do it acoustic once again for Oui FM (one or two songs).

Mysterious Uncle ArizonaThen, here's Flemish kultuur at its best : last Friday a guy called Uncle Arizona covered Little Arithmetics during TV1's "Zonder Handen" show. Idea behind the show : an artist comes on stage and does his/her thing for a few minutes, then viewers can decide whether they want to see the artist again - or not. The cover isn't half bad : it's an acoustic version of the song, with a crooner's deep voice. Check it out here : slow connection or broadband. Then, you can vote for Uncle Arizona here. But who is Uncle Arizona ? It's being speculated on the Zonder Handen message board that he could be no other than Joost Zweegers from Belgian band Novastar - after all, that guy is a huge dEUS fan. Thanks to Dirk Houbrechts (the Belgian Pop & Rock Archives) for this info.
