Paris next Tuesday

From Simon B (Webzine Nameless) : Tuesday december 4 Tom Barman will play an acoustic set at "La SCene" in Paris.
it's a private show for the radio station "Oui Fm".

Let's Get SUEd - they have it!

dEUS now have their own copies of the dEUS mailing list's collective effort in creating a dEUS cover CD. It's called Let's Get SUEd, to get more info and to order your copy, click here !

And here's the story of how tHEY got the CD. I have no time for actually updating the website (as you probably guessed), so here's a quick copy-pasting of the greatest message we've had on the dML for months. It's Polido's nice review of Tom's acoustic set for Portuguese Radio Antena3, 2 days ago.

Aloha,
well, as i said earlier today last night was a great night. Tom and Klaas were there, Klaas didn't played but stood in the back listening and watching Tom's performance. The good mood was on and Tom was very funny, telling jokes, joking about the band and some funny situation that had happened to them the night before in Lisboa. I will not tell the stories because it would take a long time to explain and i can't do it right now but if you are able to get a recordingof the show you will listen to al the stories. Sorry.
2 members of the crowd were allowed to place 2 questions and Tom mentioned that the spliting rumour was never to exist. That the break turned into a mega mega break and now people are involved in other projects and that they are going to finish all of them and then get back to dEUS and do another record in 2003. I think this was already mentioned here but nevertheless Tom said it. Also talked a bit about the DVD. Blamed Klaas for the wrong notes played on his guitar and the long tuning moments he took due to new
strings :-)))) told stories about turtles :-))) and gay bars and a black guy who said was famous in Italy and about the issue of being famous in Portugal :-)))) and took requests and was going to play Right As Rain but decided not to because it was a sad song and after the turtles stories. Oh ! there was a comment on a new return to Portugal but that is yet to confirm and that would be with Tom & CJ Bolland !! that would be great.
In the end it turned out to be a great evening and he played seven songs,

Everybody's Weird
Magdalena
Instant Street
Luxury
Nothing Really Ends
One Advice, Space
Serpentine

In the end i was able to talk to them and that was when i handed them the cover cd. I had 5 copies ready for them. Klaas was very surprised and thanked everybody because that was a compliment that people would pull such an act on the band. He asked a few question about the project i explained everything. I also asked about if there was any problem on doing the record and playing their songs and he said no not at all it was nice that people could and wanted to play their songs. Then Tom came and he already knew
about the project, Pedro had asked him the permission, remember and had also sent him an e-mail but he was interested in knowing more about the project so i explained everything again :-) and he was amused by the name of the record and told me he was curious on listening to the cd. Let's hope for a comment on the project :-)) Oh! they both know about the existence of the dML. Unfortunately they were in a hurry they were hungry and the guy from the record company were telling them they had to go. Anyway they were very nice and were please to receive such an offer. This is great, no?!! :-)) Finally all these year of waiting and working paid something :-))
Now, should we produce a Zita Swoon cover CD???? :-))))
Oh! I have a radio recording of the show.
Cheers
POLIDO

Tom online tonight/New artwork exposed

Tom will play on Portuguese Antenna 3 tonight at 22.00 GMT (Portuguese time). You can listen to the radio's webcast : it's here (Windows Media Player required - I think).

And Kunstmaan is the name of the design company responsible for the look and feel of the dEUS best of series. They devote a section of their website to the artwork they've made for dEUS. Check out the DVD screenshots, looks like it's gonna be a great thingie ! Click here to see it. (thanks to dirk houbrechts)

Portuguese date cancelled / See Klaas live

Tom's acoustic gig in Cascaishopping has been cancelled. But another date is planned on the day after, this time in Lisboa's Fnac Chiado : Nov. 27, 13.00. There'll also be an acoustic session on Antenna3 radio. More reliable information (in Portuguese) can be found here.

And then, next Wednesday, you'll have the opportunity to catch Klaas live (says Quinten) :

'Zone03 Mega Party', at Café d'Anvers in Antwerp
* DJ Timaxx, DJ Prinz, Guerilla Grooves de Lux feat. DJ Soi
* Special guest performance by La Esteralla
* De Verenigde Toilet Madammen and
* Lady Angelina and Klaas Janszoons en het kabinet van bloed en bloemsuiker.

I really have no idea what he's gonna do, it's the first time I hear about this "project".

Movie business - all together / acoustic gigs

Here's the cover of No More Loud Music, the dEUS singles collection (taken from the Portuguese website mentioned below). The new single is out in Belgium, and even though the song is great, the single is deeply disappointing : no new song, no demo or live version, no remix, but 3 versions of Nothing Really Ends (radio edit, full length version, and instrumental version).

Best piece of information heard in years : dEUS will soon start writing the soundtrack to a Todd Komaniki (or Komarnicki) movie set during World War II. Tom said so in this week's HUMO.

Tom will be on VPRO's Club Lek on November 21. If you want to be there (ie, Studio Amstel in Amsterdam), dial 035 - 671 22 22 from the Netherlands. More info here.
He will also play at Cascaishopping Fnac in Cascais, Portugal on November 26 (a partir das 19h30). More info can be found here (thx to Hugo Cruz).

Please be patient

Dutch radio VPRO published yesterday an account of an interview with Danny. The article is mainly focused on the future of dEUS. Danny says that the band will take another year before they start recording their 4th album, in 2003. But Tom has some difficulty financing his movie project, "Anyway The Wind Blows", and Danny thinks that if Tom doesn't get through, they'll record a new album earlier, and Tom will go on with his movie project later.

Read the whole article on VPRO's website.
