Put your headphones on
Studio Brussel's website streams a 30-second snippet of Nothing Really Ends, and Arthur conveniently made that snippet available in the audio section at ISufferRock.com. It seems that Evergreen, a song that Tom performed last year on StuBru, was an early version of the new song.
And then, here's what happens when you're a careless webmaster - you must be over 18 to enter.

She said : "No more loud music"
News from Arthur's ISufferRock.com, partly thanks to Tom Bogman who had the opportunity to meet Tom Barman at the Gent Film Festival :
1. The "best of" album will actually be a singles collection, with Nothing Really Ends as bonus track. The album is titled No More Loud Music, after a line from Theme From Turnpike.
2. As I reported yesterday, the DVD No More Video will be released later - that's because dEUS have to gather permission from several publishers in order to include press articles on the DVD-rom archive - those articles will be commented in audio by the band. Other goodies will include demo versions of Via, Suds & Soda and Violins & Happy Endings, plus a huge photo gallery (over 200) including snaps by Eric Didden, Benham Bornak and Maarten Vanden Abeele, and the making of the new single. There will also be a tour footage section - over 400 items in all.
3. One song on the forthcoming Magnus (CJ Bolland & Tom Barman) album will feature vocals by Stef Kamil Carlens.
4. Tom's movie, currently titled Anyway The Wind Blows after a 1997 JJ Cale anthology, still needs financing (he has 70%), but he hopes to get it finished in the summer of 2002.

Nothing Really Ends, but No More Video, though
Got a message from Sweet Girl, one from Dirk on the dML (he summarised an interview with Tom in Het Nieuwsblad this morning), and read the news at ISufferRock.com ... let's sum it all up :
1. The single is called Nothing Really Ends. It will be released on November 5, but will probably be included in playlists from the end of this week. What the B-sides will be hasn't been announced yet. Arthur says the new song is a "bossanova-like ballad with string and a choir".
2. The "best of" album will be released one week later, on November 12.
3. The DVD, titled No More Video, will be released later because it isn't finished yet. It will contain all videos, plus the making of some, and the making of the new single. Add to this a "gigantic dEUS database" ... Can't wait.

Not Badlands ?
Someone called "X" posted this on the message board. That "X" seems to be an insider, who won't disclose details he knows ... But it's really good to know that such people read and use the board. "X", you're warmly welcome to keep that thread going !
some of details you got are false. There's allready a definitive titel for the song and it ain't 'Badlands'. The real title will be announced soon...Craig actually DID play on this new track, which was recorded at CJ Bolland's studio.
the DVD has all the dEUS videos for sure and 'the making of' the new song. But the real beauty of the DVD is the DVD-ROM part because it contains a lot of archive stuff and things you haven't seen or heard before...

The new single (and more)
Magnus (Tom Barman & CJ Bolland) tonight at Rock Ternat. Album expected in March 2002 (so says Move-X magazine).
Millionaire in Silly (no joke) a few hours ago : fantastic. Even more fantastic: there I met the press attaché to dEUS, she's a very sweet girl. Here we go :
1 - The new single will be out in three weeks' time, so that will be early November. It was recorded somewhere in August or September. Says the attaché : it's a very quiet song, with lots of violins, but it builds up - well, like most dEUS songs do. It's currently called "Badlands", but the final name hasn't been chosen yet. The artwork has still to be made, and as expected, Craig didn't take part in the recording process. dEUS is now a four-piece.
2 - The DVD might be a video collection of the singles (some sort of super best of album) - and then, it might not be. Sweet Girl (I'll call her that way, cause I don't know if she really was allowed to talk to some nerdy fan) didn't confirm that it would contain videos. What she did tell me about, though, is the deal behind the DVD. The band didn't want a "best of" album to be released - that's something Universal Music pushed forward. So, dEUS negotiated and get a very simple deal : they accept the "best of" album if they are allowed to make a dEUS DVD. This probably means that there's going to be a lot more to it than a mere video collection.
3 - There will be a launch party for all this. It will take place in Antwerp in November. I don't know much more, since it's apparently being organized as we speak. They haven't even booked any location yet. But when it happens ... be there if you can. I wouldn't be surprised to see something special happening on that night.
4 - (from ISufferRock.com) Tom said that dEUS were offered to write the score to a movie. I hope they'll say yes.
Then, a bit about Tom's own movie project - also comes from ISufferRock/the message board. Working title "Vrijdag, Vrijdagavond" has been changed to "Anyway The Wind Blows", but the film's language will still be Dutch (incidentally, "Anyway" ... is the last line in Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", dR Gomez says). Means that the movie is still on the move.

21 long sleepless nights
On Tuesday Tom was on Studio Brussel's Kinky Coninx program. As you may or may not know (depending on whether you also check ISufferRock.com's news page), Tom is a member of the jury at the Ghent Film Festival, he's really proud of having been asked to do it. But that is hardly relevant to dEUS fans, right ? Well, he also said that the new single will be released in about three weeks. Perhaps it's not gonna be a Christmas song after all.

Listen to an unreleased dEUS song
It's not THE new song yet, but the cover dEUS recorded for the Doe Maar tribute album, "Trillend op m'n benen". Their cover didn't make it to the tribute album because of copyright problems or because the song wasn't finished by time of the deadline (you choose). It's called Pa, and now you can listen to almost three minutes of that song by heading for the audio section at ISufferRock.com.
And Arthur also confirms that Musickness has ceased to be. Manager Filip Eyckmans now concentrates solely on his hotel/studio En Frente Arte in Ronda (that's where The Ideal Crash was written and recorded).

New dEUS material !
One more time, we're gonna celebrate ! There is some new dEUS stuff coming, and it's 99,9% official (comes from someone who works for a big player in the Belgian media).
The best bit if of course a new song, a totally new song that they are recording some time now, and it's supposed to be a "Christmas song" - not exactly what you'd expect from the boys, but still, a new dEUS song in the hand is worth two in the bush, right ? That song will be released on the forthcoming singles compilation, but also as a single by the end of this month. The title of that song is still unknown.
Then, there will also be a DVD with all videos, plus a DVD-Rom archive part containing live footage, pictures and probably some other nice goodies.
I'm happy.
On a less happy note : Musickness, who've been managing dEUS from the very beginning, now belong to hISTORY. So it says in the Millionaire album's sleeve notes.

Tom solo - now on CD
News from the message board, brought to you by Maarten : The latest 2MeterSessies CD release contains a Tom Barman track ! No getting overexcited - it's not a new song, "just" a cover. It's JJ Cale's Magnolia, he played it for 2MS right after his November 2000 performance at the Crossing Border festival. Dear Arthur says you can see a video of the recording at ISufferRock.com.
