Tindersticks without Tom

This was posted a few hours ago by Santiago on the dEUS message board :

I was at the Tindersticks Botanique concerts (which were rather wonderful), and I can certify that sadly Tom Barman, did not perform there, nor does he play on "Can our love...", Tindersticks latest album.

According to the official Tindersticks website, the soundtrack of the new Claire Denis film "Trouble every day" features collaborations between Tindersticks and "a host of musicians", which could maybe include Tom & Craig. At the Botanique, Tindersticks performed the title song from the soundtrack, and another that might be on it, called Say goodbye to the city.

dEUS #4 in 2003?

Quinten (Rudy's Great Ideas) sent this message to the dML almost ten days ago :

Just saw on regional television Tom Barman left off to the Cannes film festival to find more sponsors for his film. Apparently, the fundings he's got so far (mostly from the flemish government) would only cover 65% of the total costs, so now he hopes to find new French or German production houses to support his movie. If all goes well, they said the shooting would start next fall. And that was if all goes well- that means the shooting will be (in best case scenario) finished sometime by the end of winter 2002 or so.
Keeping in mind they always need some months for postproduction, editing etc, it looks unlikely the film will be finished before the end of spring 2002. Only then, dEUS will (or can) get back together (unless mr. Barman needs another new vacation of course), they would have to start (or continue) writing new songs, rehearse them, record them...
It could mean an album will only be here in 2003. Yoinks! That would be FOUR years after TIC- it better be worth the wait I say...

One more ...

I was driving back home a few hours ago when I heard a great song on Radio 21 : it's a new Heavenhotel band called Sue Daniels. Oh, perhaps I'm wrong, since there's nothing about it on Rudy's GI, but I think I once saw a split single with Sue Daniels on one side and Lionell Horrowitz on the other. Or was that Golf ? Perhaps I'm too sleepy.

Nope ! Just (Tuesday evening) got a mail from Quinten (RGI's webmaster), it is indeed a Heavenhotel project. They released a split single with Pascal Deweze (Metal Molly), more info here : www.deadbeattown.com/disco/deweze.htm

Return of the Blog

Those of you who use the message board read that the new news page would become more interesting ... That's because I don't need time-consuming procedures to update it anymore (ie, I can't be forgiven for lousy updating anymore). The point is : I can create news updates even for really minor dEUS-related events ! Let's see ...

Quinten's fantastic site about Rudy has moved (again) : Rudy's Great Ideas now lives at www.deadbeattown.com. Bookmark.

And Tom will be DJ'ing at the next Dour Festival. On July 5 if I'm not mistaken, in a tent called La Petite Maison dans la Prairie. See the festival's website for more info.
